Sunderland, High Street West, No. 138, Gibbon's Butcher Shop
Building c. 1859; restored 1996. There are two carved dancing female figures (95cm high and 40cm wide) like caryatids on opposite corners of the shop faĆ§ade. Each is brightly painted with a lilac dress, blonde hair and blue necklace. There are also brightly painted relief heads (10cm square) including a king and a queen.
