          Description
The route from Ryhope village to the beach passes under the railway bridges. The first bridge has skew brickwork to accommodate the curvature of the track which once supported the North Eastern Railway. The bridge now has the Southern Radial bypass over it. The second bridge replaced a wooden viaduct to support the Londonderry, Seaham and Sunderland Railway. The LS&SR plaque can still be seen on the seaward side.
