Tyne and Wear HER(13802): Tynemouth, Longbird - Details
Longbird, built in 1919 by Smithâ€™s Dock Co. Ltd at Middlesbrough. On 16 January 1943, the Longbird was on passage from the River Clyde for Hull with a cargo of vegetables and rape-seed when she foundered and was lost following a collision with another vessel, some ten miles NE of the Tyne North Pier.
