From the North and South Shields Gazette, 29th October 1852. "During the course of Wednesday morning some vessels were observed along the coast and toward 2 o'clock they commenced to come in. A London brig, the UNITY of Lynn, which left Hartlepool on Monday, while attempting to take Shields Bar, struck and drove onto the Herd Sand.
