Extant Building

Formerly known as Hutchinson's Buildings, these shops with houses above, built in 1850-1853 by George Andrew Middlemiss, are now shops and offices. They are 4 storeys high, built in ashlar with a Welsh slate roof and lead-covered dome. The roof has transverse-ridge chimneys. This was part of Hutchinson's Buildings which included Nos. 105 - 109 High Street West, the latter block alone now retaining the old name. These buildings were the first commercial development on the Fawcett estate. This is the only part of the original block to have survived. LISTED GRADE 2
