          Description
              Shown on Ordnance Survey 2nd edition of 1890. Erected by Susan Peareth, widow, of Peareth Hall (HER 7050). The school was conveyed to trustees. The rectors of Washington, Boldon and Whitburn were to be governors of the school, at which poor children of Washington parish were to be taught arithmetic, penmanship and English grammar.
