Description
This row of buildings labelled 'School Houses' is shown on the Ordnance Survey first edition map of 1862 as an irregular row aligned NW-SE at the southern end of Schoolhouse Lane. To the south and southeast are gardens. To the south of these is an 'Old Shaft' (HER3697). The buildings had been demolished by the second half of the 20th century. It is not clear whether any of the buildings was a school, but the buildings seem likely to be workers cottages.
