Shown on 1st edition Ordnance Survey map. Owned for many years by the Ord family later Blackett-Ord. until the 20th century this was an old country inn. Bought by Alexander Deuchar in 1931 for £26,777 and converted into a suburban pub. Sometimes refers to its rural past e.g. in the mid 1980s for example, three of its bars were called the Den, the Loft and the Covert Lounge.
