Description
This brick wall forms a boundary along the eastern edge of the Tyne Plate Glass Works (the successor to Swineburne's Glass Works HER2340), and was probably built as part of the eastwards expansion of the glass works in the late 19th century. It incorporates the remnant facade of Staith House (HER5677).
The centre part of the wall was the facade of Staith House, with two adjoining sections of boundary wall, and to the north and south of these two curving end sections rebuilt in the 1980s. The outward (east) face onto Mill Dam is more ornate with panels divided by brick piers and with a dentil course, whilst the inward (west) face is plain.
